NIGERIA : Lagos City Basketball League Put Off

Lagos — The Lagos State Basketball Association (LSBBA) on Wednesday announced the indefinite postponement of its Lagos City League scheduled to begin from June 9 to Aug. 10.
The association's Secretary, Bolaji Fashola, said in a statement that the decision to shift the date of the competition was to allow participating teams to honour scheduled engagements which might clash with the City League.
He said new date for the competition would be decided soon and conveyed to the various teams expected to participate.
Fashola also announced that the entry forms for the competition would close on June 22.
The Lagos City Basketball League, an annual competition of LSBBA, is to develop grassroots basketball in the state.
Previous competition had attracted teams in the national league -- the DStv Basketball Premier Men's League -- and other teams in the Division One League based in Lagos.
The competition was held last in 2012, which was won by a DStv League team -- Lagos Islanders. They defeated Chariots 73-71 in a thrilling final held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos.
