RWANDA : IOC Gives Ferwaba Rwf14.7 Million for Talent Detection


Rwanda Basketball Federation has received a financial boost worth US$21, 000 (about Rfw14.m) from the International Olympic Committee for the development of the sport from the grassroots.
According to Ferwaba officials, the programme will start from January 19 to June 15.
The whole project requires about US$32,000, (about Rwf22.5m), which leaves Ferwaba with a deficit of US$11,000 (approximately Rwf7.7m).
The financial boost has been offered by the Olympic Solidarity through the Rwanda National Olympic Committee following a successful proposal made by the local basketball body last year.
The money will also help to organise training clinics for local coaches, who will be involved in handling the beneficially Under-16 youngsters in different schools around the country.
The secondary schools that will benefit from the project include; Lycée de Kigali, College Saint André (Kigali), IFAK Kimihurura, Green Hills, GS St Ignace Kibagabaga, College de Gisenyi-Inyemeramihigo, GSO Butare, GS St Joseph Kabgayi, St Aloys-Rwamagana and Regina Pacis Secondary School-Musanze in boys category.
In girls category, schools which will be targeted include; St Vincent Muhoza-Musanze, GS du Bon Conseil-Byumba, LNDC Kigali, Lycée de Kigali, Ecole Notre Dame de la Providence-Karubanda, St Joseph Kabgayi, College ADEGI, College St André, Green Hills and GS St Joseph de Birambo.
