Falcons v Ndejje
THE Falcons had a terrible regular season last year but wound up reaching Game 7 of the National Basketball League (NBL) finals.
This season Sam Obol’s team seem determined to make an impression throughout the campaign. Beware Ndejje Angels.
Walker Obedi’s team are next in line of the Falcons’ firing squad, which cooled off the KIU Titans 71-60 Wednesday night for their fifth win in six NBL games this season.
Ndejje face the Falcons today at the YMCA although the Angels were originally scheduled to play City Oil. The NBL champions are in Rwanda for an invitational tournament and successfully asked for a postponement.
The Angels have had a mixed start to the season, following up an impressive win over the Warriors with a shock 49-41 reverse to the Sharing Youth. Ndejje will need a spectacular display to defeat the Falcons, who sent KIU to their third straight loss.
Falcons’ Stephen Mwesigye snatched 11 points and 20 rebounds against the Titans while Syrus Kiviri, Stephen Omony and Herbert Arkitah added a game-high 22, 16 and 10 points respectively.
KIU had a team-high 20 points from Michael Makiadi but sorely missed star point guard Chris Omanye, who was left out of the side for disciplinary reasons.
Meanwhile, Mavita Ali will lead A1 Challenge against the Makerere Sparks in the women’s NBL fixture, which openings today’s programme.
