RWANDA : KBC eyes unbeaten 2nd round

Former national basketball league champions, Kigali basketball club (KBC) will be hoping to build on last weekend’s win over Rusizi when they host United Generation basketball (UGB) at Amahoro indoor stadium today starting at 7pm.
The 2011 winners  lost two first games against reigning champions and still unbeaten Espoir as well as third-placed Rusuzi, but are keen to finish the second round unbeaten after overcoming Rusizi last Sunday 88-81.
KBC, coached by Cyrille Kalima, are currently in second place, two points behind Espoir, but level on points on 12 with Rusizi and fourth-placed APR BBC.
“We are currently in a good state, all players are on form and they are mentally prepared for the title race, with our current form, I feel we can beat any team in the league,” Kalima told Times Sport yesterday by phone.
He noted, “Losing those two games in the first round somehow dented our (title) hopes but we’ll never give up until the last game of the season, because you never know Espoir could also slip-up, so we need to keep winning our games.”

KBC have two games this weekend, first against second from bottom side United Generation Basketball this evening and with army side, APR on Sunday.

In women’s league, this year’s Gisembe Memorial tournament winners Ubumwe basketball club will facing-off defending champions APR on Saturday and Rwanda Allied Peace for Progress (RAPP) on Sunday.
