KENYA : Cardinal Fall

ST. John's Nyamagwa narrowly edged out hosts Cardinal Otunga High School, Mosocho to emerge the Kisii County secondary schools boy's basketball champions.
Nyamagwa survived a late onslaught and hostile crowd from the hosts to win the nail biting game 36-30.
The saints won the first quarter 10-07, 12-04 in the second quarter and 11-6 in the third quarter but lost 03-13 in the last quarter.
Martin Ocharo of Nyamagwa and Stephen Ogere of Cardinal Otunga were the game's highest scorers nailing 12 baskets apiece.
Nyamagwa's Everland Ongiri was named the three-day tournament's most valuable player.
In the semifinals, Cardinal Otunga overcame Nyabigena 21-10 while Nyamagwa whitewashed Moi High School, Gesusu 49-13 in a one-sided game. In the girls' category, Itierio beat Gesicho 40-23 to lift the title.
To qualify to the finals, Itierio needed half a basket to narrowly beat Senior Chief Kegati 20-19 in a tension-packed match while Gesicho also edged out Randani 22-19.
Cardinal Otunga, enjoying the support of home crowd and Principal Zachary Nyariki, whitewashed neighbours and arch-rivals Kisii School 30-05 to win the rugby title.
In the semis, Cardinal Otunga walloped Nyabigena 41-0 while Kisii School defeated St John's Nyamagwa 31-0.
Nyachogochogo from Nyamache district beat Mobamba 53-35 to win the netball title. Maureen Kepher and Aska Oyugi were leading scorers for the champions with 15 each.
To sail to the finals, Nyachogochogo overcame Mosensensema 74-21 while Mobamba defeated Keoke 47-7.
