UGANDA : Uganda slide to sixth place at Zone V event

The men’s national basketball team finished the Fiba Africa Zone V Championship in sixth place out of the seven teams that took part in the week-long event in Tanzania.
A day after being knocked out of contention for the sole regional slot for the continental event, Uganda lost 89-86 to Burundi after overtime in the playoff for fifth on Thursday.
That meant that the team won only once, beating the hosts 80-66 in the opener on Monday at the National Indoor Stadium. The slide started thereafter.
It all started to go wrong on Tuesday night as defending champions Rwanda beat Uganda 90-85. Barely 14 hours later, Egypt added insult to injury, winning 80-67.
The women are faring much better as they beat Tanzania 63-41 for a second victory in the tournament.
