TANZANIA : Savio Edge Out Champs JKT to Go Top of RBA League

Savio beat defending champions JKT 59-55 in a closely fought RBA League game at the National Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
The victory means Savio go two points clear at the top of the league table with 16 points. After eight outings, they remain to be the only unbeaten side in this campaign.
The army team, which lost to the same opponents in the 2010 National Basketball League (NBL) final, sits in the second place with 14 points.
They were JKT who started the game on a high tempo, bidding to avenge their painful 2010 defeat, which cost them silverware and their pressure paid off after taking a 14-10 lead in the first quarter.
Sensing the danger of a loss, Savio brought in forward Ally Mnyamani in the second quarter and his impact was immediate as he scored six points in quick succession to lead his side to a 16-13 win.
After the recess, Savio picked from where they had left off winning the third quarter 15-12 before wrapping up the score with 19-16. George Tarimo of Savio was the top scorer with 14 points followed by his teammate Mnyamani with 12.
