NIGERIA : First Bank Ready To Displace Deepwater

Coach Adewunmi Aderemi of First Bank Club of Lagos said his team are battle ready to challenge current champions,First Deepwater, for the league’s title when hostilities in the domestic league begin by March.

Aderemi, popularly called Owolo by pundits of the sports, said this year’s competitions will be taken with all seriousness , especially the forthcoming basketball competition holding in February.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, as part of its efforts to move the slamming and dunking game forward in the country, have concluded arrangements to hold an Open Championship for Women in Abuja this month .
Aderemi said: “The programme for this year’s competition is out, but we have started training on Monday ahead of the competition. We hope to do our best by winning the competition while the Women’s League kicks-off in March.
“Already, we have put behind us our loss at the FIBA competition and for coming second behind First Deepwater in the league last year.
“I can assure you that we are ready for the league and our target is to win the forthcoming competition in February.
“My girls will use the league to prepare for our continental engagement later in the year,” Aderemi said.
First Bank came second at the 17th Inter-club Basketball Club Championship for women. They were defeated by Interclube of Angola by 81-55 points at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium,Surulere, Lagos.
