KENYA : KBF FINALS - Eagle Wings vs KPA preview

By NOEL ROBERT

These two sides have proved to be the finest Kenyan basketball sides and each time they meet, fans are certain of a thrilling encounter. The two meet for the third time this season on Saturday to decide the 2011 KBF Champions.
In the past two encounters each side has a single win after Eagle Wings failed to travel to Mombasa for their away league match. In the first match of the best of three played in Mombasa, KPA won 53-46.
For the dock women, they are out to defend their crown and only a win out of the two games to be staged this weekend will get them to the crown.KPA arrived in Nairobi on Thursday and are ready for the task ahead keen to burry the match on game two.
KPA bring Africa Clubs Championships experience while Wings believe they have been and are still a good side, ripe for a stab at the crown. Tomorrow’s game is thus a perfect opportunity for either team to stamp its authority and show dominance over the other.
Eagle Wings will tomorrow rely on the speed of Angela Akinyi, the skills of Samba Mjomba and the power of Shani Silalei but KPA is expected to respond in equal measure with their evergreen trio of Salma Akinyi, guard Hellen Okech and Brenda Angeshi in their bid to defend their trophy won last year at the Nyayo gymnasium.
Game two of the best of three series will be staged on Saturday 17th December from 4pm. Eagle Wings will be keen to avoid a repeat last year’s finals when they failed to win just a single game and be crowned the champions after winning game one at KPA’s Mombasa backyard
