LESOTHO : Basketball clashes promise fireworks

MASERU-The National Basketball League moves into top gear tomorrow with teams playing their last, first-leg matches at the Lehakoe Recreational Centre in Maseru.

Current log-leaders, Shines, face Lerotholi Polytechnic Basketball Club, while second-placed KTA All Stars take-on Roma Boys and Bashana Baeso at 11:15am and 1:30pm, respectively.
Shines top the log-standings with 12 points after six outings, while KTA All Stars are running them close at 11 points from the same number of matches. LP, as Lerotholi Polytechnic Basketball Club are famously known, Roma Boys and Bashana Baeso go into the weekend matches lying on position four, six and five with 10, 7 and 8 points, respectively.
In other basketball league matches set for tomorrow at the same venue, Rovers meet rookies Mafokotsane Slammers and Limkokwing University Basketball Club respectively, while again, both LP and Roma Boys also lock horns with Lesedi at 12:45 and 15:00, respectively.
According to the Lesotho Basketball Association competitions manager, Bokang Sehlabaka, competition is expected to be tougher come tomorrow, as the teams aim to finish the first leg fixtures on a high note. “The spirit among our teams is very high, with each aiming to finish the first leg ties on a high note. And this promises a tough competition,” said Sehlabaka.
