KIU 77-87 Power

Following Sunday’s defeat to Power, KIU Titans believes the big loss came about due to Brian Watti’s absence in the match. D’Mark Power thumped KIU Titans 73-87 to clinch their third second round win.
KIU toppled Power in the first quarter, 20-17, and briefly threatened to make it a difficult night for the champions. But Power siezed the initiative from there on, winning the remaining quarters 24-16, 24-18 and 22-19. Joseph Ikong and Ben Komakech scored 21 and 13 points respectively to lead the their team to a playoff position.
Boniface Okello’s 11 points further cemented the gulf in class. Power coach Bernice Nkunda believes his team’s deep bench made the difference. “However,” he added, “We are still making slight mistakes.” It is a mark of the team’s hunger and desire that their coach, despite dominant performances like last week’s victory over archrivals Falcons, Nkunda is not yet contented.
KIU coach Nimrod Kaboha rued the missing Watti and also foul trouble. “We missed our main player - Watti. Besides, Joshua Etalu and Noel Onyimbo got distressing fouls.
