KENYA : Coop torment Ulinzi Warriors in a one sided encounter

Defending champions COOP Bank made a meal of Ulinzi Warriors on Saturday beating the soldiers 49-78 in a game that saw Kenya’s decorated forward Peter Kiganya showcase his class burying the first baskets for his side in the first quarter that ended 12-16 in favor of the bankers.

The soldiers opened the second quarter with a 4-0 lead but the bankers were quick to respond by 9-2 courtesy of two three pointers from Abel Nson to water down Ulinzi’s efforts. The second quarter still eluded the soldiers losing 14-20.
The commencing of second half marked the beginning of the soldiers’ tribulations with COOP turning them to mere spectators constantly following the direction of the ball and mostly got a possession of it when the bankers buried a basket,
There was no place for the soldiers’ combative style of play and whenever they attempted to foul their opponents, a whistle was blown from nowhere to put them on check. The third and fourth quarters ended in COOP’s favor at 8-19 and 15-23 respectively.
Kiganya and Nson combined to bag 22 and 13 points respectively while Bernard Mfutu and Wafula Ancette scored 10 and 6 points respectively for the Warriors.
