RWANDA : Hoops to play Angola & Luxembourg


RWANDA’s basketball team is expected to play Angola and Luxembourg in their two-week training camp in Paris, France next month, the basketball federation boss Lt. Eric Ssalongo has confirmed.

The team will be using the training camp as part of its preparing for the 26thFIBA Africa Championship, which will be staged in Madagascar.
“The team will play a series of friendly matches against Angola, Luxembourg and a team of an American university,” Ssalongo told this paper yesterday.
The men’s team which will compete in the FIBA Africa Championship is expected to head to Madagascar straight from Paris.

Other teams which will compete in Madagascar tournament include Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Togo, Senegal, Mali, Morocco, Central Africa republic, Chad, Mozambique, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, South Africa and defending champions Angola.

From Madagascar, the team will head to Maputo for the All Africa Games from September 3-18.

Rwanda qualified for the Games after clinching the Zone V championship title in February. To lift the title, Rwanda beat Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda at Amahoro indoor courts.
