NIGERIA : Women's league ready for go thanks to bank backing

LAGOS (NBBF/Zenith Bank WL) - Zenith Bank has released 15 million NSN (1 million USD) for this edition of the National Division Women Basketball League, which begins next Thursday at the Abuja Stadium Gymnasium.

The head of Zenith's Philanthropy section, Eunice Sampson, said it was a pleasure for the bank to sponsor the tournament, which is in its seventh season, and promised that the bank will constantly work with the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to move women's basketball forward in Nigeria.
“We are passionate about the women's league because it a means to empower the youth and also a way of empowering the female folks to excel,” Sampson said.

The league will held in three phases with the first taking place between 12 and 22 May at the Sports Hall of the Abuja national stadium, the second 9-22 July in Akure, while the third and final phase is billed for 3-13 August in Lagos.
