TANZANIA : Tanzania rally to beat Comoros 57-51 in rematch

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania woke up from Saturday’s slumber to edge out Comoros 57-51 in a friendly match at the National Indoor Stadium yesterday.

The two sides clashed on Saturday and the visitors outdid Tanzania with a 65-55 victory.
Cheered by a scanty crowd, the home team got the game underway with a clear intent of revenging the defeat.

Led by Vijana City Bulls guard, Alphonce Kasekwa, dominated the first quarter and managed to take a 14-6 lead.
The Comoros stepped up a gear, but Tanzania stood firm and until the interval, they were leading by 30-20 points.
Comoros changed their tactics in the third quarter and the changes paid off as they overturned the lead with great accuracy.
Maamoumme Daniel led the visitors’ to take a 40-34 lead until the end of the quarter.
Tanzania responded strongly in the final quarter to post 22 more points while restricting their opponents to 11 points.
Mohamed Ally Dibo, who buried 14 points and Comorian Daniel who also notched 14 points were the match’s top scorers.
Mohamed Yusuf scored 12 points for Tanzania while playmaker Youssouf Abdullah also bagged 12 points for the visitors.
Tanzania head coach Bahati Mgunda lauded players of both sides for playing a tactical game.
