Egypt vs Mozambique

DESPITE sneaking into the last eight of the Afrobasket U-18 Kagame Cup, it was always going to be a tall order for the junior hoops to get past Tunisia.

And it was not to be as the team got a thorough battering 87-43 in front of a fairly packed Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
While the home crowd was crestfallen after the defeat, majority expected it.

“Right from the group stage, we were struggling. You could tell that there was no cohesion in the team. The coach did not get his tactics right so honestly speaking, I’m not surprised by today’s appalling performance,” a dejected Innocent Ruzindana conceded.

“Tunisia deserved to qualify. What we need to do is get back to the drawing board,” another fan furiously said.
The game was over as early as the first quarter. Tunisia made their intentions clear when they swept the first quarter 29-6. The hosts raised their game in the second quarter 12-15 to head into half time 26 points adrift.
Tunisia claimed the third quarter 25-9 while Rwanda got a consolation fourth quarter win (20-17).

Lionel Hakizimana top scored for Rwanda with 12 points.
In the other quarter final ties, defending champions Egypt silenced Algeria 87-66 while Mozambique ejected Gabon 67-58.
