UGANDA : FUBA steps up security

By Usher Komugisha

THE national basketball body FUBA is working round the clock to ensure security is in place ahead of the second round starting on Sunday.
Falcons are up against KIU Titans in one of the games due at the YMCA ground in Wandegeya.
FUBA’s plan on security follows the bomb blasts that rocked Kampala on July 11.
The bomb blasts at Kyadondo Rugby Club and at the Ethiopian Village Restaurant, left 76 people dead and several others injured.
FUBA secretary Tom Ocamringa, said plans are on to have games end by 9pm. Under the old schedule, the last games of the day would start at 9pm and end after 11pm.
“We are taking measures to protect the basketball family,” Ocamringa explained.

At the same time, the All-stars Challenge event due to have been held tomorrow has been pushed to August 7.
