After 14 years of exhibiting mediocre performances, Miracle Eagles are determined to make an impact in this season’s MTN-Fuba League.

The Rubaga-based side has completed the signing of Boniface Okello and Paul Mwaka from former champions Nkumba Marines with a target of making a maiden appearance in the play-offs.
“We are looking at nothing less than the play-offs this season,” Miracle Eagles official Chris Kyebambe said yesterday. Mwaka and Okello, the 2005 league Most Valuable Player (MVP), won two championships with Nkumba Marines and are expected to steer a revolution at Miracle.
“We have always had good players but the play-offs have eluded us. With these experienced players, we hope to give the big sides a run for their money,” Kyebambe said.

Formed in 1995, Miracle’s best performance came ten years later when they finished fifth in the league. Despite upsetting big teams and at times playing some eye-catching basketball, the team often makes impressive starts to the season but seldom brushes shoulders with relegation.

But Kyebambe is hoping to assemble a very competitive side this season. “If you are to finish in the top four, you must have a big squad.

That’s exactly what we have done. The team has a mix of young talent and experience,” he noted. Former national league top scorer Godwin Khisa has also put pen to paper for Miracle.
