NIGERIA : Royal Hoopers Classics enters crucial stage

The final leg of the Royal Hoopers Classics has entered the crucial stage with finals slated for Tuesday evening.

For all the teams that have been part of it, it has been one swell time for them as the players and officials have had to play their hearts out to the satisfaction of the audience that daily thronged the Police Officers Mess at the old GRA in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State South South Nigeria.

Surprise of the championships has been the inability of last year's defending champions Ebun Comet to get into the semi-final sage as they were edged out on Sunday when they lost their game to Union Bank basketball club by 48-37 points in a grudge game that saw the Stallion boys making that extra effort to be part of the final stages of the chaqmpionship.

In Group A are host, Royal Hoopers, Bayelsa Waves, Free Nets, FCT Rocks coached by Emma Odah and Delta Force while Ebun Comet, the 2007 champions who had to fight their way to no avail failed to qualify; Dodan Warriors, 2006 champions, Chariots basketball of Lagos, Union Bank basketball cluband Nsuka Lions of Enugu slugged it out for positions in the finals.
The winners of the championship will go home with a cash reward while all other participating teams get appearance fees as well as transport subsidies and accomodation.
