ANGOLA : Angola Lose, Complicate Access to Podium At CPLP Games

Angola's ladies basketball team this Wednesday lost against Brazil by 35-75, at Forte São João stadium, in a third round match of the tournament of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP), which is being held in Rio de Janeiro city.

Angola was always behind in the scorecards. In the first quarter they were behind by12-18, in the second 17-30, third 29-52 and 35-73 in the fourth and last quarter.
With this defeat, the second in the competition, Angola complicated the possibility of being amongst the top three places, due to its positioning in the standings table and the next fixtures remaining.
After beating Guinea Bissau by 56-41 in the debut match, and having lost the following two (against Mozambique by 29-70 and Brazil, by 35-73), the Angolan national might only lie in the fourth place, behind Portugal, Brazil and Mozambique and only ahead of Guinea Bissau.
Portugal and Brazil are leading the competition with four points each, followed by Mozambique, who although they have the same two points as Angola, is in the third position due to the advantage in the encounter between them.
The national team will play its last encounter on July 31 against Portugal, in an encounter considered very difficult for the Angolans judging by the opponent's competitive level.
