NIGERIA : Niger Potters take first game, lose second

Niger Potters of Minna began their Road Trip games through the Atlantic Conference of the Nigeria Premier League on a good note on Monday beating Delta Force of Asaba 76-40. The convincing margin, analysts believed had set the tone that the Potters will possibly have the best result by any Savannah Conference team through the region but they fell the following day to Union Bank 70-62 in a match played at the National Stadium in Lagos.

The Monday result achieved against Delta means that the Asaba based team have lost three home games to visiting Savannah clubs except for the singular victory over a hapless Tapgun Rockets. They may equally find it very tough beating any of the remaining three teams yet to go on tour through that location.

In Lagos on Tuesday the Potters showed quality start as they kept the lead established by hosts Union Bank to three points through the second quarter. The third quarter was the undoing for the team based North West of Abuja as they recorded high percentage turnovers off their passes. The turnovers gave the Bankers a 20-point cushion at a time but the fight back in the final quarter reduced the gap to 8 points.

The Potters will continue with their games through Saturday with the match against the Customs on Wednesday; a match against Lagos Islanders on Thursday and Dodan Warriors on Friday. The series ends against Ebun Comets.
