KENYA : The National Premier League Starts this week end

NATIONAL champions KCB Lions face off against University of Nairobi "Terrorists" as the 2008 Premier League season throws off Saturday.

Missing in action in an eight match fixtures released yesterday by Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) fixtures are women champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). The games will be played at the World Hope Center, Lavington.

Lions did not feature in the Pre Season open tournament over a week ago but the champions have said they are going for nothing but another back to back title. They will release their close season signings against the campus lads who finished in a respectful fourth place.

Last years runners up Co-operative Bank of Kenya, felled 44-49 by an upbeat Strathmore University side during the Pre Season tournament over a week ago, meet again in what should be a mouth watering clash.The bankers must watch forward Ken Maru, who posed all sorts of problems.

In the ladies fixtures, Yana Milele, who did not fair well either in that tournament play Strathmore University whose coach Sylvia Kamau will be making a debut as the only lady tactician. Eagles Wings meet University of Nairobi "Dynamites" in another match.

Mennonites will hope to move a step further this year as they open their campaign against Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) while reinstated Nakuru Club start their climb to the top with a tie against Blazers.

International Christian Center (ICC) who missed the play off spot by a whisker and have lost nationalteam center Moses hida to pro oted Posta havea date with Java Warriors in what should be a closely pitted fight.

Host World Hope entertain Lomboritz in front of their own fans as George Namake, who handled Central bank of Kenya (CBK) in the inaugural league in 1987 hope to make a mark again with his youthful side he guided from the Provincial league..

Fixtures Saturday: (from 10 am) Mennonites v NPC, Blazers v Nakuru Club, Yana v Strathmore Swords, Co-o v Strathmore Blades.
Sunday: (from 2 pm)World Hope v Lomboritz, Eagle Wings v UoN Dynamites, Java v ICC and Lions v UoN Terrorists.
