TANZANIA : Kili RBA Deal Out Tomorrow

Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) is tomorrow expected to unveil its sponsorship of the 2007/8 Kili RBA basketball championships.

Basketball Dar es Salaam director Mbaga Mwamboma said yesterday the sponsorship package would be announced ahead of the start of the championships on November 17 at Dar es Salaam's National Indoor Stadium.

"Prizes and incentives to be offered will all be known on Wednesday. We hope that this year's package will be better that than previous one,"he said.

He added that the announcement of the sponsorship had been delayed because TBL's Kilimanjaro Premium Lager brand manager Oscar Shelukindo was out of the country.

TBL has been sponsoring the league through the brand for seven years.

Last year's men's winners JKT pocketed Sh3 million while Savio and Oilers took home Sh2 million and Sh1 million after finishing second and third, respectively.

The top three women's teams and their cash prizes were JKT (Sh2 million/-), Jeshi Stars (Sh1 million) and Cargo Ladies (Sh500,000).

The best men's player was Savio's George Tarimo, who received Sh2 million in addition to the Sh100,000 he got for pulling down the most rebounds.

The team with the best disciplinary record took home Sh300,000 while the top scorers in both the men's and women's competitions pocketed Sh100,000 each and the MVPs received Sh200,000 each.

Tubert Matiku of JKT was awarded Sh200,000 after he was named the best coach.

Mbaga said the 10 teams that would vie for the men's title were JKT, Savio, Oilers, Vijana 'City Bulls', Chui, ABC, UDSM Outsiders, Mgulani JKT, CTW and Chang'ombe Boys.

Women's teams lined up for action are JKT Stars, Jeshi Stars, Don Bosco Lady Lions, Cargo Ladies and PTW.
