UGANDA : Kasewu dumps Power

By Charles Mutebi

RONNIE Kasewu plundered 26 points as the Kyambogo Warriors showed Sadolin Power the way out of the playoffs with victory in game two of the best of three semifinals.

The shooting guard, who made 21 points in game one, continued where he had left off, causing more headaches for Power’s defense on the way to topping the playoffs’ scorer’s charts with 47 points.

Power’s coach, Andrew Bazira, admitted that his team had no remedy for the silky lefthander: “We didn’t have an outright defensive player who would be capable of stopping Ronnie”.

Bazira’s Power needed a victory to level the series but the players from Kyambogo were not going to be stopped from reaching their first playoffs final.

The Warriors coach, Ambrose Tashobya praised his team for the remarkable achievement.

“The boys were very focused and played as a team. They have failed at the semifinals three times before and were determined not to lose this time,” Tashobya said.

Tasobya however quelled suspicions that his team might be content with making it to finals. “We’ve worked very hard to get here but now we are going to work even harder,” said the Warriors coach, who had lost his voice by the final whistle.

The Warriors will know whom they will play in the final when Mogas Falcons and the UCU Canons play their game-three-decider next week.

Meanwhile, A1 challenge ejected KIU Rangers with a two-game sweep to win the right to contest the ladies final with the KCC Leopards.

Crane High, in the meantime, revived their hopes for promotion to the top division with victory over Gulu Hawks that levelled the three game series.
