LIBERIA : LBF League Closes Aug. 3.

Reports from the Liberia Basketball Federation (LBF) says the official closing program for this year’s national league will take place on Friday, August 3, 2007 in Monrovia.
According to the Secretary General of the LBF, Mr. Fred Pratt the holdup for the closing is attributed to the delay in the arrival of trophies and medals from the United States.

Mr. Pratt said all of the materials are now in the country and all is now in place for the closing program on August 3. He said the medals and trophies were ordered by the Lone Star cell company in collaboration with the LBF and have been in the country for about three weeks now.

He said during the closing program, Lone Star Cell Company will also formally present to the LFA, a new glass board which was produced in the United States. He said deserving athletes, personalities and institutions will receive awards for their outstanding performances, achievements and hard work during the season.

Meanwhile, the Chief Scribe of the LBF say there will be a mass meeting on Saturday, July 28, 2007 to discuss the burrier of former national team coach and player Mr. Jimmy McCritty. The Chief Scribe said all former national team players and friends of the late Jimmy McCritty are asked to be in attendance.

Mr. Jimmy McCritty died on Thursday, July 19, 2007 at a local hospital in Monrovia. He was a former head coach of LPRC Oilers Basketball team and also headed the Technical Staff of the Liberia National Basketball team that qualified Liberia for the on going All African games in Algeria.
