NIGERIA : NBBF Rewards d'Young Tigers

Members of the victorious national U-18 basketball team, D'Young Tigers were yesterday became N100, 000 richer each, courtesy of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF).

The cash award was handed over to the 12-member team at a reception held at the Nigeria Olympic Committee boardroom in honour of the team.

The D'young Tigers last weekend won the African Under-18 Championship in Durban and thus qualified to represent the country at the FIBA under-19 World Championship in Canada next year.

Speaking at the ceremony, the NBBF President, Buba Gyang who was represented by the Chairman, Youth Committee and leader of delegation, Mr Richard Agwu who expressed appreciation to the Sports ministry and the NBBF board commended the players for their brave performance and urged them to see the junior World Cup as the next challenge.

Responding on behalf of the team, Ebun Comets point guard and captain of the Junior Tigers described the team's victory as a sign of good things to come. He solicited for supports of all Nigerians especially the ministry ahead of the Junior World Cup in Canada next year.
