NIGERIA : Zenith League: Sunshine Go Down to Blue Angels

The sun practically took a break with Sunshine Angels of Akure yesterday in Asaba on Day Three of the 2006 Zenith Female Basketball League. The Angels of the sun type went down 71 - 58 to obviously superior brand of angels - the Blue Angels. It was first game of the day.

The loss, though, still leaves the Sunshine ladies on top of the table with five points having won two games earlier. It appears it may be temporary as their off day today may give the Blue Angels and Customs a leeway to take upper positions on the table.

Before the Blue Angels and Sunshine stepped out yesterday, the fans of the Akure based team were hopeful as the Blue ladies only managed a five-point victory over Dodan Amazons whom the Sunshine team over ran. But it all turned out mere hopes as Blue Angels held forth through the four quarters of the match yesterday.

In the second game of the day, Customs flogged Dodan Amazons 63-38 to set up a serious clash with Blue Angels today. With yesterday gone bye the games today are of real battles. Edo Queens and Dodan Amazons will play the first game at 2.00pm in a match of the down trodden. Both teams have lost all matches played and should clearly count on this encounter as the only one that can give them the full points. Both teams are rated below the other three and no expert has been able to make a clear prediction concerning the possible outcome of the game.

The match between the Customs and Blue Angels will possibly decide the winner of the Equatorial Conference as both teams are the top team teams and have maintained that posture by winning the games played so far.

The last time both teams met was in the Zenith league play off series held in Abuja last year. The Customs won that game which eventually gave them the third spot overall behind First Bank and Dolphins of Lagos.
