GAMBIA : Wallidan Maintain Lead

Wallidan Basketball team, the defending champions and super cup title holders have maintained a deserving lead in the on-going national basketball league, which is spear-headed by the Gambia Basketball Federation (GBF).

Wallidan have won all their six fixtures to continue their hundred percent start in the league. Close on their heels is Dingareh basketball team which have also won all their six encounters with relatively good score-margins.

The national league which was organised in a bid to revitalise basketball game in the country, has entered its Week Seven fixtures. The Week Seven encounters will commence on Wednesday, June 28, at Manneh Sillah Memorial basketball lawn in Banjul with Street Jam taking on Gambega, who earlier lost their Week Six fixture to Wallidan. On Thursday, June 29, Mass Sosseh basketball team will lock horns with Brikama side.

Meanwhile, the basketball league has suffered some disruption as some of the Week Six games never completed, owing to the lack of electricity at the lawn in the past week, an official of the basketball federation told Observer Sports yesterday. According to him, most of the games played last week were unceremoniously aborted during the half-time intervals, but was quick to add that the Week Seven encounters will go ahead as planned.
