UGANDA: Rock High, Layibi Banned At Ndejje

ROCK High and St Joseph's College, Layibi were yesterday banned from the national schools championship by the National Schools Basketball Association (NASBA) technical committee.

Rock High from Tororo and Layibi from Gulu were handed a two-year ban each for allegedly fielding ineligible players in the on-going national championship at Ndejje SS.

Layibi registered Albert Echewu a student of Duhaga SS, while Rock High was found to have used Samuel Omojang a student and player of Jinja College in their victory against Nyakasura.

"NASBA cautioned schools about registering illegal players during this event. So both teams will not take part in any school basketball activities for the next two years," NASBA technical chairman Edmund Lumu said.

Meanwhile, King's College Budo recovered from a 29-20 loss to Bugema Adventist on day one of the championships with a morale boosting 38-22 victory over Jinja SS.

Ndejje SS girls did not disappoint the home crowd, recording a 34-12 win over Mengo before coming from behind to win their second game of the day, a narrow 15-14 victory over Manjasi High on the third day.
