UGANDA: Marines, Makerere, KIU fight for hoops supremacy

Makerere University, Kampala International University (KIU) and Nkumba Marines are fighting for basketball supremacy in the inaugural utl Invitational University Games that started earlier this month.
Makerere and KIU have already spit fire after securing wins in their opening encounters over Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Kampala University (KU) respectively.

Makerere stars David Kiberu, Rogers Serunyigo, Mande Jurani and Ben Komaketch had no respect for their business wing (MUBS) whom they stamped 50-40 two weeks ago.

Their women counter-parts the Sparks demolished MUBS by 82-14 courtesy of Olivia Mulwana, Linda Tamale and Vicky Nassolo.
Makerere's main obstacle lies in money spenders KIU. KIU comprise highly rated stars like Isaac Afridra and Emma Baguma who have ruled the Ugandan court for sometime.

The other basketball giants to watch are Nkumba Marines that are yet to start their bid for the utl cash but are certain of emerging from their pool that has KIU, Kyambogo and Kampala University. The Marines expect reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) to boost their challenge.

"Norman is coming back soon and I think I have already one hand on this Utl money," said Marines manager Patrick Ssebuliba. The games resume tomorrow with Kyambogo hosting Kampala University.
